It's official - I own my car!!

I just checked the status of my recent car payment and it's finally been processed!

You know what that means?

I officially own my car! No more car payments on it! Yay!!!

My 1st ever car was an older one my parents gave me and bought outright when I was in high school (a '95 white Chevy Corsica). I drove that baby for almost 8 years straight.

By the time I graduated college (December 2007) it was starting to have one problem after another and knowing I might be commuting to work for awhile that summer I wanted to get something somewhat newer that got better gas mileage and was commuter friendly so after doing some number crunching that spring (March 2008 to be exact) and realizing that I could afford car payments with my budget, I decided to do some looking.

http://images.dealer.com/autodata/us/stockphoto-color/2004/USB40CHC161C0/87U.jpgAt the time, hubby had a Chevy Aveo hatchback and while I wasn't crazy about the hatchback, I was used to car - he had taught me how to drive stick on it. I looked at those as well as test drove a Mazda 3 or 6 (I don't remember) - the Mazda was nice and fully loaded, but it wasn't the one I had drove all the way out there to see (as it had been sold a few days prior) and there was no way they could crunch the numbers enough to get it into my allotted budget for car payments. Really wanting to buy a car on my own, I kept looking and came across a listing for a 2004 black Chevy Aveo sedan with manual transmission in the adjoining town to my college town. We went and looked at it, took it for a test drove and the next morning I traded in Cory (my Corsica) and drove Avy off the lot and to work.

The only downfall that the dealer failed to bring to my attention was that for whatever reason, only on the 2004 Aveos, Chevy didn't include air conditioning as a standard feature! This has really sucked in the summer when it's like a million degrees out and I have to pull my hair up, roll ALL the windows down and drive fast enough to circulate the air. That's part of the reason Jay and I hung out at home a lot during the day last summer - I hated driving an infant around like that in the heat anymore than I had to.

I'm excited though as this means that the money we were using on my monthly car payments can now go towards hubby's car payments and we can get his paid off sooner and I can get a newer car with air conditioning and more space (because a commuter car with 1 small child is okay for now, but we are planning on having at least 1 more kid sometime in the future). Truth is, I've already started looking and am interested in the Mazda 6 or a 2010/2011 Chevy Malibu (can ya tell I'm a Chevy gal?) in either black or silver. I want a mid-sized sedan with a little bit of a sporty look to it - I refuse to ever own a mini-van or SUV (no offense to those of you that do own those typical "mom" vehicles, but those just aren't me, I like sporty but practical).

I'm also excited though as this is the 1st car that *I* officially own! I'm looking forward to getting that title in the mail, and then taking it to *finally* get it changed to my married name (I was told by the bank that my loan was originally through that I couldn't do that until after it was paid off and I had it in my hands).

I'm seriously a bit giddy!

Free refund, say what?

Last year I started reading The Millennium Trilogy by Steig Larsson. You know, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series.

Anyways, I read the 1st 2 and watched their Swedish film adaptions on Netflix, but have been waiting for book 3 - The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - to come out on paperback as well, since I have the 1st 2 in paperbook and when it comes to my books, unless it's a long awaited continuation in a series and I have to have it the day it's released (ie: the last Harry Potter book or every Sookie Stackhouse book since #8 or the last 2 Hunger Games books) I prefer to keep them in the same format and size so they look nice on the bookshelves.

Last summer the kind clerk at Borders (before they announced they were going out of business) looked it up for me and said that it appeared to be coming out in March 2012. It was a long ways off, but I figured I could wait to read the conclusion to Lizabeth Salander since I had a few other long books to read in the meantime (*cough*gameofthrones*cough*). So last month I noticed on Amazon they had the paperbook I had been waiting for available for pre-order. Wanting to take advantage of their pre-order guarantee (if the price drops after you ordered it they'll give you the lowest price) I went ahead and ordered it.

And it arrived last Friday.

And I was disappointed.

Here's why:

Um, yeah... that's thinner, taller and overall larger than the previous 2... not nice!

Before starting the return process with Amazon, I decided to see if Walmart or somewhere in town had the actual version I wanted since according to online, it exists! When we made our weekly trip to stock up on groceries we're low on and whatever other random things we needed I picked up what I *thought* was the same size as the other 2 (hey, the other 2 in paperback were sitting right next to it on the shelf in the store!)

Only to get home and see...

It's still taller, but not *as* bad as the other one. I guess I can live with it. I checked Target while I was there the other day and apparently they changed the size of the paperbacks - as the other ones in Target were just as big as this 3rd one I picked up. Kinda strange... oh well.

So anyways, I go to start the return process on Amazon for the other one, I select that the item wasn't as described and left a comment that I thought I was ordering the same size as the other 2 but apparently not as I didn't realize multiple paperback sizes were being released on the same day.

I click "submit" and this screen pops up with a pop-up in the center saying the exact same thing!

How awesome is that?! No need to return - just keep it, on us! So that's cool and all - hubby says it's probably because I've been ordering a lot off Amazon the past few months - but, um... what am I going to do with a 2nd copy of this book, in a format size that I don't want?

I know my aunt's been waiting for me to get it so she can borrow it after me and finish the series also (she borrowed the 1st 2 books from friends)... maybe I'll just give it to her...? Guess I'll see!

"I'll do what I want, GOSH!"

Watching Napoleon Dynamite on TV for the millionth time recently reminded me of one of the previous times I was watching it and decided to look something about it up on Wiki... and much to my delight, learned they're making an animated series out of it that will be debuting on Fox in 2012!!!

File:Napoleon Dynamite promo.pngFor those that watch Talking Dead each week after The Walking Dead, you might have heard a mention to this last week when Jon Heder (and Felicia Day! <3 her!!) were the guest commentaries.

I'm seriously freaking excited about this though!!!

They have the original cast from the movie back (minus Kips eventual wife Lafawnduh, as it sadly seems the series takes place without her) which makes it even more awesome!

The movie came out in 2004, near the beginning of my 3rd year of college, and when my former college roomie and I were just starting to hang out. This basically became our movie as over the course of our friendship we've watched it waaaay too many times to count (it was also our go-to movie when drunk, as we thought it was hilarious and could quote it word for word, lol... we even made a drinking game out of it!). Seriously, we LOVED this movie and whenever I watch it I think of the fun times we had together.

I am soooo excited for the TV show - hubby thinks I'm crazy, but I know he'll end up watching it with me.

My guess is that it'll air Sunday nights, during Fox's Animation Domination block with Family Guy and The Simpsons.

Cuteness: Overload!

Modeling his adorable bear beanie
mommy got him from work!
Today I had a long day at work (basically a 9hr shift when normally the shifts are 4-5hrs) since I was on call prior to my actual shift tonight and they needed me to come in for it. This meant I dropped Jay off at my mom's a little after 1pm and I didn't get to see him again until around 11pm when I got home tonight.

As usual, my mom hung around for a little bit before leaving, chatting and filling me in on what I missed with Jay during the day and when daddy fed him last, etc. When she left he was standing on my lap, holding hands with me to keep him from losing his balance and falling over onto the floor.

And then the cuteness happened.

He leaned forward and wrapped his arms around my neck like he was giving me a hug!

And then, if that wasn't cute enough, he pulled back and then leaned towards my face again with his mouth open like he was wanting to give me one of his "open mouth" kisses* on the cheek, which of course I let him!

Then he pulled back and smiled at me - how cute?!

I guess he really missed his mommy today!

*Jay hasn't quite mastered giving kisses yet so he gives you 1 of 2: 1 is where he just puts his lips to your face or wherever for a moment, and the other (his latest version of a kissy) is the open mouth kiss where he'll put his open mouth to your face and give you a kiss that way, lol... at least he's got the idea down!

He flipped!

Just a quick post today, however we've reached a milestone!

Last night I put Jay down in his crib after daddy came home and fell asleep as he just wouldn't settle down in my arms and I wanted to go to sleep. I figured I'd put him in the crib and read for a little while until I heard him quiet down and go to sleep (he was babbling and scooting around I could hear).

Well I finished a chapter in my book and he was still  being noisy and now a little fussy so I went to go check on him - that's happened before where it turned it out he just popped his binky out of his mouth and was fussing cuz he wanted it back in.

At first I was little confused as to how he scooted himself 45-90degrees from where I had laid him down on his tummy (as I've mentioned before, Jay is a tummy sleeper). He was all smiles too and then it dawned on me - he was on his back, not his tummy how I had left him!!

He flipped himself over somehow!!

I stood there for a moment telling him how I proud I was of him, that he flipped all by himself... and then I flipped him back over so he could go to sleep and he was fine, passing out within minutes - I think he was just fussing and being all noisy to get my attention to come see what he did! LOL...

We have to wait and see if he does it again, this time when we're around to see him in action!

Snowmaggedon 2011 - the Snowpocalypse is upon us!

One of the local tattoo artists designed this
at the request of the Rock station jocks.
As I'm sure you've all heard, the midwest got hit pretty hard the last 24hours by a massive snowstorm - one of the largest in years!

The snow started Monday night, but stopped for a bit Tuesday morning before picking up and going into full-swing blizzard mode by 3pm. I was over at my parent's house from 3-430pm and just within in that time their front sidewalk and driveway were "gone" and there was a good inch or 2 on my car!

Hubby came home from his day job an hour early because of the weather and declared that UPS was shutting down the airhub for the night, as obviously there were going to be no planes flying in or out (they had also shutdown O'Hare last night too). Rarely does UPS close the entire hub like that!

We stayed in last night, playing video games (he played some CoD: Black Ops, while I played WoW).

The view out our building's front door at 3am - my car's the middle one on the left

This morning I woke up just before 8am, in the event that I had to go into work at 930am, however I had gotten a text message from the opening manager saying that the mall was closed today (it closed early last night too) and so obviously no work. Hubby got a call at 8am saying that they were going to delay work opening at Verizon til at least noon. I checked Facebook on my phone before going back to bed. Apparently, as of 8am, we had already gotten 13.5" of snow! One of my friend's posted that her husband had gotten stuck on his commute to work twice already since he left at 3am - fortunately he was able to turn back around and get home later this morning.

We woke up for good around 1030am to the sound of the snowplow working on our parking lot again and snow hitting up against our bedroom window - seriously, looking out our bedroom window, all you can see is snow up against it!

The view from our living room - that's a HUGE snowdrift!
Hubby got a call from one of the head guys at Verizon who lives out in the Chicago suburbs - he left work at the same time hubby did last night (5pm) and JUST NOW made it home at like 11am. Noon has come and gone and we haven't heard anything more about there being work for him today so we're just chillin' at home.

Our city has declared a "state of emergency" meaning that unless you have an emergency that requires you to be out on the roads, stay off them. Apparently there's tons of abandoned cars around ton too.

Hubby standing outside - that's our street.
Friends on Facebook have been posting some amusing stories though!

One guy said he literally had to pick his dog up and throw him into the snow to get him to go the bathroom as the dog hadn't gone since last night and had refused to go out 3 times when the door was open!

Another friend said she was woke up this morning by the police saying that her car was completely covered and that she needed to come out and clear it off, dig it out and try to move it before the plows came through and made it worse or possibly even plowed into her car as it looked like a snowmound!

It's been pretty crazy around here!

Hubby won't know for a few more hours if UPS is open tonight or not - I have my doctor's appointment in the morning too so I'll need to try and dig my car out at some point as well. Our street doesn't look too bad now, however there's a good foot or so of snow packed up behind my car that needs to be taken down so I can get out!

I'm a winner!

I'm so excited - I won a blog giveaway!!!

I've entered in a few before but wasn't lucky enough to win the grand prize. This time around though, I won 1 of 4 prizes up for grabs!

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm61/badassgeek/hardrock_02.jpgThe other day, the Badass Geek posted about a giveaway he was doing in which a reader with connections to the Hard Rock Cafe wanted him to plug an upcoming show and had some free swag for him to giveaway - some nice aluminum Hard Rock Cafe water bottles! He made it really simple to enter the giveaway and so I figured why not?

I won one of these neat red ones (which you can see to the right), which I figured I can store somewhere in Jay's stroller or diaper bag and take me with when we go for walks this spring and summer!

I came across the Badass Geek's blog early last year - I believe I was surfing the blogrolls of some friends on 20-Something Bloggers to find blogs that appealed to me in order to increase my own blogroll and saw that several followed a blog called the "Badass Geek." Intrigued by the title, as I'm a bit of geek myself, I decided to check it out. He posts some really amusing, humorous stories about his daily experiences ranging from things that happen at home and work to just public places in general. I was hooked and had to add him to my own blogroll! Another neat thing is that him and his wife are expecting "Baby Badass" later this spring, so that's another thing in common, which he sometimes posts about as well.

Be sure to check him out - if you're like me in the least bit, you'll be hooked!

Random Musings of the Week

I kinda like these posts as I can share bursts of things all at once!

Anyways, I've been working on my 101 in 1001 list lately!

One yearly thing I can cross off for now is #94 - go to a hockey game once a year.

The Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center in Chicago
Last Thursday I found out that hubby and another co-worker of his had pitched in to get some tickets to a Chicago Blackhawks game for another co-worker friend of theirs whose birthday was this past Sunday. The guy's been feeling a bit down lately (or so it would seem from his Facebook status posts) and they wanted to make sure he had a fun birthday. Hubby and I both went and it was pretty fun! I had never been to the United Center before, despite it also being the home of the Chicago Bulls and in the 90s when we were kids the Bulls were THE team to go see (I told hubby we were both deprived/jipped when it came to that! lol...). Our tickets were at the very top, in the standing room section, but fortunately I took breaks to sit down a little bit here and there so it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately the Blackhawks lost, 4-1, with Philly scoring 3 points in the last half/quarter (what do they call it in hockey since there's 3??).

Hockey reminds me of soccer though as it's similar - there's a goalie and you run across the field/ice trying to get the puck/ball in the opposite goal - and watching hockey makes me miss playing soccer... I played for 5 years, 8th grade all through high school. I wasn't really any good until my coach switched me to defense my junior year, then I was actually pretty decent and got to start quite a bit! I hated all the constant running that the midfield and forward positions had to do and couldn't handle it - with defense we only had to worry when the ball came down to our end of the field and then the goal was to either a) kick it up the field real hard, b) pass it on up and out to one of the midfielders or forwards so they could run it or aggressively steal it from the other team's players who were running it and then do either a) or b).

I've also worked on #4 a bit too (Watch at least 2 Netflix DVDs and 2 Instant Queue movies a month).

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/12/Predators_54632_glg.jpg/220px-Predators_54632_glg.jpgI mentioned earlier this month I finally watched The Blindside which we had gotten in the mail back in November. The other DVD we watched this month was Predators. It was a decent movie for a Predator action flick and better than I was expecting (only other Predator movie I've seen was AvP:Requiem and I wasn't impressed) - I figured it was produced and written by Robert Rodriguez (in which I LOVE most of his work) so I figured it couldn't be THAT bad... The premise is that a handful of different military people from all over the world (including a Black Ops turned mercenary, a Spetsnaz, a drug lord bodyguard among other similar types) and a doctor come to as they are being parachuted into a strange jungle. At first they're not sure why they're there or who put them there but they start to put the pieces together and realize that they're not on Earth anymore and that the planet is used for hunting by the Predators and that they're the game. This one stars Adrian Brody (whose face drives me nuts, it's too narrow as is his nose!) and Topher Grace with appearances by Danny Trejo (who is AWESOME in everything he's in) and Laurence Fishbourne.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f7/Babies_poster.jpg/220px-Babies_poster.jpgI also watched the documentary called Babies on Netflix's Instant Watch last night. It was cute and interesting - there's very little dialogue in it but for an hour and 15 minutes it follows 4 babies from different cultures (Africa, Mongolia, Tokyo, and San Fransisco) from their newborn days up until around their 1st birthday as they interact with others and discover the world around them. The African culture was quite different, as the baby was part of a tribe in the wild. I also didn't understand why the farming Mongolian family let their baby boy run around with no pants or diaper on half the time - the African baby I get, as that's the culture, but yeah... it was definitely an interesting watch though!

Tiger intensely watching the Babies documentary
About 30 minutes into it Tiger came into the room and joined me - she sat down and stared at the TV for a few minutes before getting up and moving even closer to it! At one point, the Tokyo baby was crying and throwing a fit due to frustration with toys - Tiger's ears perked up and she was practically climbing in front of the TV, pawing at it and meowing, like she thought the kid was stuck in the TV! lol... for the remainder of the movie she seemed pretty intrigued and intensely watched what was going on on the screen! My kitty is hilarious... I have no idea what goes on in that little brain of hers and if she can comprehend what she's seeing, but she often gets really into watching TV with us!

http://www.diningservices.tulane.edu/images/Logos/TacoBellLogo.pngSo the talk on Twitter today is that OMG, Taco Bell doesn't use real meat! Honestly though... is that *really* a surprise to anyone? I thought that was old news... maybe it's just cuz I'm a Taco Bell-aholic, but yeah... regardless though, like I saw someone pointed out, the ingredients don't sound any worse than what's in a veggie burger patty. Must be a slow news day!

http://lombardiave.com/files/2011/01/NFC-Camp.pngAlso, as I mentioned on Twitter the other day, in the Illinois and Wisconsin area, this past week it seemed like the Superbowl came early as I swear people in this area were more pumped and excited about this past Sunday's Bears vs Packers NFC Championship game than the actual Superbowl! The rivalry around here is a bit crazy between fans of the 2 teams and it was all anyone could talk about this past week. Even area Walmart's got in on the action, selling Bears and Packers cupcakes for all the football parties that were happening! Now, hubby and I are both Dallas Cowboys fans, so we weren't *that* concerned about the game as our season's been over for a few months now, although I do cheer on the Bears when they're not playing Dallas (the only time I *ever* root for the Packers is when they're playing against Brett Favre as I can't stand him), so it was a bit sad to see the Bears lose, especially as they started to make a comeback in the 2nd half of the game. So for the Superbowl it looks like I'll be cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers this year as my parents are both natives of the Pittsburgh area (dad grew up in Uniontown, mom grew up in Brownsville, both of which are about an hour drive southeast of Pittsburgh) and we still have a lot of family out that way.

In other news... hubby's getting a VERY nice raise at Verizon as the District Managers (one of which is one of my brother-in-laws) put their foot down and petitioned the owner of the company for more money as there's been a huge issue with sales reps turnover due to it solely being based on commission and well, the economy sucks. Not to mention that the person who was getting paid the most wasn't making more more than hubby and yeah... there was no possible way a person could raise a family on that, let alone barely get by themselves! So they "won" and sales reps are getting paid hourly now, but since a sales rep working 40 hours a week would be making more than a manager, well they had to redo that too and decided to restructure the entire company. Previously, hubby was the store manager of the store where the warehouse is and so he was also doubling as an administrative/executive assistant as he dealt with all the inventory and orders as well. Well they're condensing some of the store management positions, making 1 person incharge of several stores in their nearby area, thus eliminating hubby from that, but he's now the inventory manager and will be incharge of the warehouse and inventory, placing orders for all the stores and often delivering them as well in addition to training sales reps on how to better sell/push accessories. This goes into effect February 1, although we won't see the pay for it until March 1. It's pretty neat though!

Jay's 30week growth  ultrasound pic
In baby news... I mentioned it on my baby blog, but since I'm sure not all of you read that, they found ANOTHER abnormality on the ultrasound yesterday (last week during the growth scan it was showing Jay's femur to be a bit small) - one of his kidneys is larger than the other. The doctor said it's possible he just hadn't peed yet and it was full, but since that's 2 things in the course of a week they want me to meet with a high risk doctor and have an ultrasound over at the hospital either at the end of this week or beginning of next week to have both looked at on their more high-tech ultrasound machines. Sooooo annoying! They've looked at his kidneys plenty of times on the ultrasounds and they were all fine... I'm really guessing it was just full at the time of the ultrasound yesterday as that just makes no sense! Grrrrr... I'll be 37 weeks on Sunday, which is considered full-term, so yeah... Jay, you can come out anytime after this weekend, okay??

My father-in-law was released from the hospital on Friday. He seems to be doing alright and they have him doing outpatient dialysis. Our church also offered to put the family up in temporary housing until their house is "fixed" and more liveable. It seems my in-laws have come to the realization that living out there is probably not the best for them at this point. They live out in the country, over an hour away from the rest of us with the nearest city/town being halfway between there and here. Their house is also on 5 acres of property which with my brother-in-laws all grown and working most of the time, there really is no one around to help maintain the property as needed. So the plan now is to get the house out there fixed up (ie: strip the basement as the mold damage was that severe) and to sell it so they can move somewhere closer to town, which would also help them save on travel expenses too as they come into town several times a week for ministry-related work and now for dialysis several times a week. The big problem is going to be with their pets, as they have a mini-zoo - they already had 1 cat and then acquired 4 kittens a few years ago that were mysteriously left on their back porch and while the original plan was to give them away to good homes, my little sister-in-law got attached and they named them all and yeah... that never happened. They also have 3 remaining dogs too, one of which is a pitbull that my brother-in-law acquired from a friend who got deployed soon after him and his wife had a baby and she couldn't handle the dog with a newborn on her own. Not sure what they're going to do... I told hubby if we had a house with a fenced backyard I'd be okay with taking 1 if not both of the non-pitbull dogs temporarily (I like pitbulls, but this one's a bit spastic and I don't feel like dealing with that with a newborn), but like he said, we don't yet so we can't.

And that's my update for now!

Wedding Bells are Ringing!!

I have four - 4!- good friends getting married now within the next 2 years! I'm so excited for them and just because of the fact I love weddings! They're soooo much fun and it's neat to see how every wedding is done differently as each couple likes different things.

First one coming up, that we got a Save-the-Date card to, is my childhood best friend's wedding.

Us drinking hot chocolate at McDonalds in the late 80s after a day of sledding!
It's on the Friday before 4th of July and up in Minneapolis as she and her fiance live near the Twin Cities. I hoping that hubby is able to get the Thursday before off so we can drive up there and spend 2 nights in a hotel before driving back early Saturday for him to be at work. I'll be really sad if we can't go and I'd rather not drive up there and stay by myself, as it's like 5-6 hours away.

Us drinking fruity drinks at local cafe Octane
summer between my freshman & sophomore years of college
The next wedding isn't until December and it's a good friend of mine I've known for years. She was a freshman when I was a senior and she was one of the few freshman who somehow got stuck in the senior lunch period, but it was okay - my friends and I deemed her as one of the "cool" freshmen. I had known her a little prior too from church as we both volunteered in the summer at our church's summer kids day camp. Anyways, we kept in touch when I went off to college and hung out a lot. She lived with me and long-term college roomie for a year, although the 2 of them had some issues and that didn't work out very well. She ended up transferring to a school in the Chicago suburbs to get a court-reporting degree and I still keep in touch with her online and try to meet up with her when she's in town visiting. I'm excited for her though too as she's been dating her fiance for years - I actually met him when I was a freshman in college as he lived 3 doors down from me on my dorm floor and that's how they met!

Us during one of the youth groups
annual Snowcamp winter retreats
Summer 2012 an old friend of mine is finally getting married to the guy she started dating when we went off to college just over 8 years ago! I've known her since like kindergarten as we went to grade school together and eventually church too when my family switched churches in 2nd grade. We hung out in the same group of friends during high school youth group. She lives in Ohio now but is having the wedding back home here, as her and her fiance are both from Illinois (I think he's from the suburbs). I've been able to keep in touch with her via online over the years though and she's another one I see from time to time when she's in town visiting family. So excited for her too as she's been with the guy for so long, a bunch of us all agree, it's about damn time they finally got married! lol...

We had a pirate-themed party for her birthday one year.
Don't we make hot wenches?? Johnny Depp eat your <3 out!
August/September 2012 is the one I'm probably most excited for as I get to be part of it! I've mentioned before, my long-time college roommate is getting married! And she asked me to be a bridesmaid too so I'm really excited about that as in my "adult" life I've never gotten asked to be one before aside from a few friends saying after the fact that they wished they had asked me (last wedding I was in was my aunt's when I was 12 and I was a Jr. Bridesmaid so I wasn't all that involved). Although she moved down towards Dallas a year and a half ago, they're having the wedding up here in the suburbs where she's from. She's coming up in March to look at venues and stuff while she visits - can't wait! It should be fun and I look forward to helping her with planning stuffs as well as the actual wedding itself!

Oh happy day!

I must say, I love this time of year (despite the cold weather)!

Today the first of our packages from Amazon.com arrived AND my friend who had the PartyLite party a few weeks ago dropped off the stuff I ordered from there.

This year for Christmas I had a pretty nice gift card balance in my Amazon account so we decided to help save money on gifts this year we would order a good chunk of it online.

Our stuff from Amazon is in 3 shipments.

The Original Christmas Classics (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer/Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town/Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns/Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol/Little Drummer Boy/Cricket on the Hearth)The first shipment arrived today, 2 days early, so that was exciting as this shipment had something I ordered for us - on Saturday they had a 1 day sale where you could get the DVD set of 7 Classic Christmas specials for just $12.99 and since I already had it in our cart, I just added a few other items to that order to get the free shipping on order of $25 or more. I'm really excited to have this DVD set and look forward to watching the specials on it with Jay in the years to come. It has the 4 major classic - Frosty the Snowman, Little Drummer Boy, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, as well as Frosty Returns, Cricket on the Hearth and the Mr. Magoo Christmas special. I've been wanting to get it ever since they released it a few years ago as they don't show these ones on TV nearly as much as they did when I was growing up (Frosty was always my favorite!), but it was always at least $30 which we never really had the extra money to spend on it. Amazon had it for $16.99 so I thought that wasn't bad, but when I got the email about it being on sale for $12.99 one day only at 3am I jumped on that!

Our 2nd Amazon order just got shipped out today (I was waiting for the price on an item to drop back down as it went up over the weekend) and should arrive sometime next week, while the 3rd order won't ship til mid-December as it was an item that we pre-ordered and hasn't been released yet. We will have it by Christmas though! We got some really good deals on stuff though - if you're on a budget for Christmas gifts, I really recommend checking out Amazon as they got tons of great deals going on and if you order $25 or more you get free shipping too!

Other than that, we got 2 gifts through PartyLite, another I'm getting with giftcards from Gamestop as soon as the 2nd giftcard arrives in the mail (I was hoping it comes today so I can use it Friday as the items we're getting are $20 cheaper that day), then I need to pick up a gift at Barnes and Noble on Friday and a few things at Walmart and we are all done and I can wrap em up and put em under our tree which we're setting up this weekend! Yay!

I enjoy shopping - whether it's for myself or others and I love when the gifts we ordered start arriving!

Now I need to finish getting ready as I'm running out to the mall to pick up a Pewter candle snuffer for $2.99 that my friend who works at Yankee Candle is holding for me (she said it's the last one they have in the store and isn't sure when more will be in as they sell out pretty fast!) and then pick up my sister and meet hubby at the movie theater across town as we're seeing Harry Potter and the Really Long Camping Trip, er Deathly Hallows part 1 tonight!
