January 1st was spent in the hospital, not for anything pregnancy-related with me, but for my father-in-law who was rushed there and diagnosed with congestive heart failure and kidney malfunction. It was a long day for hubby's whole family and my father-in-law was there for 21 days total.
The end of January we had my baby shower, which was a fun time!
The 1st nice day after the blizzard we got 2 exciting phone calls - the 1st from the banker lady we had been working with for over a year to get approved for a home loan informing us that we were finally able to be approved and the other phone call was from my OBGYN clinic saying to get my butt to the hospital within the next 2 hours as they were concerned about Jay's lack of growth according to the more advanced ultrasound I had at the hospital earlier in the week and wanted to get him out ASAP since I was already 37 weeks and considered full-term. They were packed due to all the Blizzard Babies from the previous few days so we had to wait and they didn't begin the induction until 1030pm that night, but Jay was here at 7:26am the next morning =D
The end of February was spent with us in the hospital though for a whole week as Jay suffered from Failure to Thrive and was eating enough to grow. They pumped his tummy though via a continuous feeding tube and well... 10 months later, he eats like a champ - you'd never know he had a rough start there (which we learned later that a knot in his umbilical cord was most likely the reason for his lack of growth near the end and why he never knew what it was like to be full - he was used to just getting enough to stay alive!).
In March, after our week stay in the hospital, we picked up our house-hunt and put an offer in on one of the 1st we had looked at in mid-February after learning its price had dropped quite a bit.
Beginning of April we moved out of our now cramped 1 bedroom apartment (while spacious for a couple, with a baby and all the baby necessities... yeah, it got cramped real quick, lol...) and into a nice sized ranch nearby, becoming 1st time homeowners! Jay also celebrated his 1st Easter and I was back into the swing of things at work post-maternity leave (they require you to take 6 weeks off, returning with a doctor's note although I got 7 weeks as it took them a bit longer to work me back into the schedule).
In May we had a huge tornado warning in our area in which I got stuck driving home from work in the middle of it (that was a bit scary as the weather went to all hell less than a mile away from home!), and we celebrated some of Jay's milestones as well as my 1st Mother's Day!
In June we learned what the cause of Jay's enlarged left kidney was (a blocked ureter tube at the bladder end), how to fix it (surgery around age 2) and hubby celebrated his 1st Father's Day!
July we had the 4th of July to celebrate as well as our nephew's golden birthday (4 on the 4th!) which was a fun time with the family! Jay got his 1st tooth also!
In August I celebrated my 27th birthday with a family cookout at our house and Jay also turned 6 months old!
September started off with a thud, with Jay falling off the bed, but he ended up being fine despite mama being a bit shaken up about it! Hubby and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary, our 5 month old dryer broke, and I broke up with Netflix for the time being.
October had hubby celebrating his 28th birthday, I got new glasses finally, and we celebrated our other nephew's 1st birthday (Jay seemed to enjoy playing with his cousins and the all the new toys!). Jay also dressed up for our church's Trunk or Treat Halloween event as a Baby Ewok and was super cute! I paid off my Powerbook finally too!
And December... busy month at work and Jay's 1st Christmas! He also took his 1st steps but decided that cruising and crawling are faster for the time being, lol... We also went to the evening storytime group at the nearby library branch and I think once it starts up again in a week or so we'll be attending weekly. We also paid off our Best Buy card.
And that's our 2011 in a nutshell - lots of life changes and full of busy-ness too!
