The Nail Files #6

The Nail FilesI've been seeing a lot of bloggers in Blogland lately posting about getting goodies from Julep Maven for just a penny!

Curious as to "what my style" is, I decided to check it out, after seeing the millionth post about the company - I figured "a penny, why not?"

So my style is "Classic with a Twist":
This timeless, iconic look is marked by beautiful yet simple cuts and colors. Effortlessly elegant, you love fine natural fabrics, gorgeous leather accessories and polished sophisticated hues. Whatever the latest trend, you’re always confidently in style.

Yeah, sounds about right.

Within a couple of days my Intro box arrived in the mail:

I got nail colors Rose (pink) and Robin (blue) as well as their Pedi creme which I hear great things about and some toe spacers! I tried on the Rose color on my toes - it's not bad!

I passed on the August box, just as at the time of the payment schedule, the money isn't there for it (especially with all that's been going on lately this past month or so).

The Nails Files #5

The Nail Files

I had to link-up this week to show off my awesome 4th of July flag nails I did earlier this week!

https://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/c0.0.403.403/p403x403/602476_10100723395915889_1685908081_n.jpg

I used the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri color "Wined Up" for the red, Spoiled (by Wet N Wild) "First Class Only" for the blue part and then I used this white polish with a thin brush that I picked up at this random polish/jewelry/accessories shop out at the mall called De Colores for the stripes and stars detailing.

Obviously my left hand looks better than my right (since I'm right handed), but I think it turned out neat overall and fun!

Did you paint your nails all fun for the 4th of July?

The Nail Files #4

 The Nail Files
Last weekend I went to Ulta for the 1st time since they changed locations and remodeled awhile back and bought some nail polish.

Pixel's Spy Wears
Pixel's Oh Yesss!!
Ulta's Indigo-Go Girl
Ulta's Alter Ego
Ulta's Little Black Dress
Ulta's Baby Doll

Here's the Oh Yesss!! red:

(not sure why it loaded sideways)

The bottle is kind of small and it took several brush strokes to cover one nail. It reminds me of a red watermelon with the dark speckles throughout the polish - kinda neat!

The Nail Files #4

Linking up with Tara and Vicki once again for
The Nail Files

Earlier this week, I painted my nails this color:

Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri in Mauve It

I kinda liked it.

I also received my Essie Klout Perk in the mail this week:

I got the orange color - Fear or Desire

I was hoping to get the blue (Bikini So Teeny), but oh well, it was free!
Guess I'll give this one a try at some point when I'm feeling orange-y =)

The Nail Files
Linking up again this week for The Nail Files!

This week I did 2 colors!

Little Man got a very belated gift card to Target this week for his birthday and we went shopping. While there, I picked up 2 new polishes, one of which was Golden-I from the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line:

To be honest, I was a little indifferent about it at first. It lasted just over 24 hours before I decided I wasn't really a fan and put on Tribecca Silver from NYC's New York Minute line instead.
Maybe I'll find a good time/place/outfit to wear the gold with... otherwise I think silver suits me much better!

The Nail Files #2

The Nail Files
Linking up again this week for The Nail Files as I'm quite pleased with my AWESOME nails from this past week!

I did part glitter for a unique look - I'm liking how it turned out! Although my nails look a bit more blue than how they are showing up in the picture...

I used "First Class Only" by Spoiled (from Wet n Wild) as my basecoat which I picked up on a whim at CVS, Revlon's "Radiant" glitter polish as the accent and of course my go-to top coat of Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri.

Normally I forget to link-up for this one and get my post up in time, however I saw these Mario nails on Sprite Stitch a week or so ago and just have to share them!

 How cool are those?!

Bath & Body Works Holiday Giveaway!!

If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen me mention doing a giveaway... What can I say, giveaways are fun (I've been entering in plenty myself lately!), it's the holiday season (a time of giving!), and I realized I haven't done a giveaway on the blog here in about a year and a half (since before I announced my pregnancy!).

So why not?

Here's my giveaway:

That's right ladies (and gentlemen, as this would make a nice holiday gift for that special lady in your life!) - I'm giving away full-sized shower gel, body lotion and fragrance mist of Bath & Body Works' signature holiday fragrance Vanilla Noel Bean!

That's a $34.50 value - yours FREE!

I was recently introduced to this scent after receiving a buy 1, get 1 free coupon last month and decided to find a holiday scent for myself as Mary Kay hasn't offered their Gingerbread lotion & shower gel set in a few years (I LOVED that one too!). I fell in love with this scent and will probably be purchasing more for myself before the end of the holiday season!

Vanilla Bean Noel is a warm blend of fresh vanilla bean, warm caramel and rich, comforting creme. Honestly, to me, it smells a bit like vanilla frosting you would put on your Christmas cookies - it's intoxicating!

So, since I love this scent so much I thought I would give one of you lucky readers a chance to check it out and fall in love for yourself!

Some good ol' pampering

Today I made some progress on item #88 on my 101 in 1001 list - get a pedicure 3 times a year.

I figured one a season would be good, although coming into my last month of pregnancy, when a friend had an open-invite on Facebook to join her at a nail salon, I jumped at the chance to get a pedicure, as my poor, swollen feet could really use one!

http://www.angelicnails.co.za/Products/images/Toe-Seporators.jpg
Hubby rubs my feet for me sometimes when we watch TV and clips my toenails for me when they get too long as I have trouble comfortably reach my feet, but it's just not the same as going to a nail salon and soaking them and getting the works done and all that... and it felt GREAT!

Also, supposedly, there's a pressure point on your ankle that's linked somehow to your uterus and if rubbed or whatever (like they do during pedicure massages) it can cause you to have contractions - I guess we'll see if I go into labor in the next few days... I'll be 37 weeks on Sunday and that's considered full-term so if I go into labor at this point, it's really no big deal.

What was amusing was that the chairs for the pedicure have a built in massager - I don't think Jay knew what to make of that, with all the vibrations going on! He started kicking/squirming a good bit while it was going on! lol...

My first pedi

http://www.expressnightout.com/content/photos/20100625-spreadmain-250.jpgToday I got my first official professional pedicure.

Shocking, I know, that I'm 26 and never had one before. I've had friends do them in the past and of course I've done stuff at home, but I've never actually gone to a salon and had them done.

And no, I didn't get one done for my wedding. I found a nice spa and salon in town that had the best price on massages and since I was paying for it myself I opted for just the manicure, as I didn't have enough to spend to get the pedicure and I figured my dress was long enough so it wasn't like anyone was going to see my feet anyway so I just painted my toenails myself.

My family is going to a wedding at Gettysburg this weekend and mom wanted her feet to look nice and decided to treat me to one too for my birthday. My sis also came with us.

It was pretty interesting!

I got there a few minutes before my mom and sis since I was driving over from work and my mom had to pick my sister up from school. At first the fumes were like "whoa!" when I walked in and smelled the nail polish and acetone and stuff -  I'm sure my preggo hormones were amplifying it by like a million too - but after a few minutes I was fine.

We each picked out a color - I got like a teal/turquoise color. It looked more blue in the bottle but on my toes it's got a slight tint of a blue-greenish color to it.

They had us roll up our pant legs and slide our feet into the tub portion of the chair which was filled with warm water and had like jets blowing. The chair we sat in had a back massager in it too which felt nice. They started making our feet look nice, doing a process one foot, then switching to the other and back and forth a few times. Then they massaged lotion onto the bottom of our legs and feet, which felt nice and then they eventually colored our toenails and then had us sit around for a bit while they dried.

They had a TV with GSN on so we got to watch the end of Deal or No Deal, where this guy sold his case for $81,000 when he still had like 4 or 5 amounts left in each column. He had gone another round, the offer would have been $249,000! Eventually, had he kept going, the highest deal he could have gotten was almost $550,000! They opened his case... dude had the $1,000,000 case and he sold it for $81,000! Ouch! We also watched a half hour game show called Catch 21, which is hosted by Carlton from Fresh Prince. The dude on that one won the grand prize of $25,000 as in the final round he got all 3 sets of cards to 21.

But yeah, that was my time in the salon. Doubt I'll go again this winter, as no one sees your feet in the winter, but maybe at the beginning of next summer I'll go - for $20 it was a pretty good deal and mom says the polish stays on and doesn't chip for quite awhile too!
